I’m noticing the reply-to field is missing for some of the lists. My
first thought was to check the remove_outgoing_headers setting but
reply-to is not listed. Has anyone notice this before? As a result
we’re seeing reply addresses for mail lists on a robot being sent to the
main server and bouncing. E.g.
The reply to a list address@concealed
<mailto:address@concealed> is being sent to
address@concealed <mailto:address@concealed>.
Lists.cs.illinois.edu is a robot on lists.illinois.edu.
Any thoughts?
This might be because you have an A-Record for lists.cs.illinois.edu pointing to 192.17.172.63, which is lists.illinois.edu
host lists.cs.illinois.edu
lists.cs.illinois.edu is an alias for lists.illinois.edu.
lists.illinois.edu has address 192.17.172.63
lists.illinois.edu mail is handled by 5 incoming-relays.illinois.edu.
If you're using sendmail with canonicalization, it would replace the name on you.
We have a robot for CS lists, and the name is defined in DNS with an MX only.
host cs.lists.rpi.edu
cs.lists.rpi.edu mail is handled by 20 mail.rpi.edu.
