I'm setting up my second sympa server; my primary one is working, hosting multiple virtual domains, but I'm running into an interesting situation on the new server.

I've ended up with what i think is a circular reference in my new sympa setup, and I'd like to see if someone can help explain the various settings in sympa.conf and robot.conf.

In my sympa.conf, I have
* domain rocket.timshouse.com
* email rocket

In my robot.conf, I have the same thing (I'm testing one virtual domain before I start adding more):
* domain rocket.timshouse.com
* email rocket

I'm using postfix with regular _expression_ files for both transport and aliases, and they both deliver mail to the sympa or sympa bounce processes, as detailed in the documentation.

Last night, one of the sympa processes created an email from:address@concealed to:address@concealed.

Why is sympa emailing itself? When does it do this, and when it does, how do I tell it the account to use? Is sympa expecting to send a system message to a local mailbox/user (typically address@concealed)?

One way I think I can fix this is to use a different CNAME for the server hostname, so that the virtual domain for my sympa lists is not the same as the host itself. I think that's where I went wrong. If I did that, would I put the hostname in /etc/sympa/sympa.conf, with a local email address, and setup a transport to deliver that domain to the local mailbox?

Tim
