- Subject: [sympa-users] What identifies a user in Sympa?
- Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2013 13:54:58 +0100
Hi guys
I've got federated authentication working with Sympa, using mod_mellon.
This went reasonably smooth.
The way we set up the identification infrastructure here, is that
users are identified by a unique ID.
I was assuming that Sympa uses an internal ID as well to identify users.
However, while configuring/using Sympa, it looks like a user is
identified by its e-mail attribute...
The problem in our situation is that we are part of many federation,
and therefore the e-mail attribute isn't reliably available.
There is no way to assert the usefulness of the attribute.
In fact, it might be that different accounts have the same e-mail
address listed.
If those users would log in, they would essentially be 'the same user'
as far as Sympa is concerned.
Can someone shed some light on this?
Many thanks!!
