Hi All,

I tried the test and it showed me a limit of 14700Kb, after that I changed the max_allowed_packet to 32 Mb and ran again the test, showing a limit of al least 21 Mb.

I did some probes and know it’s working correctly.

Thanks very much all for your kindly help

Gonzalo

Hi there,

Is easy verify if the modification is working, login in sympa database and execute:

show variables like 'net_buffer_length';
show variables like 'max_allowed_packet';

See the link bellow (another msg of a participant) to know this variables and default values.

Bye,

Thanks for your response, it clarified me at the attachment increased size
issue.
Knowing that, why if I have a 'max_allowed_packet' of 20 Mb, sympa database
 is rejecting a 18 Mb email?

Ah I did not read your original email closely enough and didn't realize
that.

The error in your original message seems to indicate you are running into
the mysql limit rather than postfix (which might still limit but that would
happen later) or sympa.

I don't know how sympa stores the message in the database but maybe there
is some additional metadata/headers that are inflating it?  Maybe David or
others can comment...

What happens if you set the mysql max_allowed_packet to something much
larger like 32mb? Also did you try the test listed at

http://www.sympa.org/manual/database#required_tunning_of_database
