Is there any way to request a sympa feature that would make permissions
more fine-grained than they are and in one respect at least more like
the LISTSERV mailing list manager? Specifically, is there a way to allow
all listmembers to REVIEW the list (i.e. get the email addresses of all
current members) but not be able to download the entire archive? The
limited free version of LISTSERV used to provide for that program
behavior. In sympa there is a lot of provision for moderators and owners
but not much for individual list members.
I'm not aware of how listserv behaves, but Sympa is very tuneable regarding access control. You can (of course) configure access rights for REVIEW and archive browsing in a different way. This can be configured by listowner through the web interface (Admin > Edit list config >¨Privileges > Who can review subscribers) and (Admin > Edit list config > Archives ).

You can even customize the access control to each and every feature through the so-called authorization scernarios <http://www.sympa.org/manual/authorization-scenarios>

Also is the a way to limit the number of daily postings by any one
member and also to limit the total number of postings per day by the
entire membership. LISTSERV also had these settings.
No such feature yet, but please add a feature request: <https://sourcesup.cru.fr/tracker/?group_id=23>
Thanks,

Ed
