Hi,

Do you mean /etc/aliases ? that looks like this:
# /etc/aliases
mailer-daemon: postmaster
postmaster: root
nobody: root
hostmaster: root
usenet: root
news: root
webmaster: root
www: root
ftp: root
abuse: root
noc: root
security: root
#-- SYMPA begin
## Aliases used for the sympa mailing-list manager
sympa:                 "| /usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue address@concealed"
listmaster:            "| /usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue address@concealed"
bounce+*:              "| /usr/lib/sympa/bin/bouncequeue address@concealed"
abuse-feedback-report: "| /usr/lib/sympa/bin/bouncequeue address@concealed"
sympa-request:  postmaster
sympa-owner:    postmaster

test:               |/usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue address@concealed
test-request:       |/usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue address@concealed
test-editor:        |/usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue address@concealed
test-owner:         |/usr/lib/sympa/bin/bouncequeue address@concealed
test-subscribe:     |/usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue address@concealed
test-unsubscribe:   |/usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue address@concealed

#-- SYMPA end

Another thing, I use debian (lenny) and I installed postfix and sympa with apt-get. In the sympa docs they constantly reference to /home/sympa as the main configuration place, but my installation didn't setup it like that. I don't know what the difference is. But I seem to use "/usr/lib/sympa".

Thanks for your reply

Hi there,

I really don't have any experience with sympa. Other than making it run on my server.

But I'm running into some difficulty,

My situation is as follows:
I have a working postfix installation, together with the squirrelmail webinterface.
I want to use sympa to manage some mailinglists, a newsletter, and a discussion mailinglist.

But when I add a list, configure it, and subscribe some users. It succeeds.
When I try to send an email to the mailinglist. I receive the following mail:

I know I have to set the alias_manager option in sympa.conf, but when I do that, I get an error that that option is not available there(???)

Does anyone know how I can solve this?

what does your Postfix aliases file look like? It's probably in /etc, but if Postfix has been installed elsewhere, you will find it in the main configuration directory of Postfix.
