The mailing list for listmasters using Sympa

Will adding, editing, or deleting users/subscribers directly in the database 
(in our case mysql) cause any problems for sympa.  (Assuming that we of 
course 
insert/edit/delete the correct data in the correct fields).

Any caveats or gotacha's so to speak that we should look out for?
