That's a bit simplistic.  Since the MTAs do manage their aliases (and virtual aliases, if those are different) differently, automated alias management does require MTA-specific code, and I'm talking about having that work correctly and completely out-of-the-box.

At the same time we do add into Sympa main stream any contribs that verify the following properties :

• provide a general interest
• is part of the mailing list server (examlpe the dokuwiki integration made by us is availible as a contrib not in the main distrib)
• is submitted with enough quality (code + doc)

Contribs integration require a lot of man power and sometime this is a problem. We do our best because Symap is really a opensource project.

OK -- since I asked for some guidance about updating the virtual aliases patch for Sympa and Postfix to be compatible with 6.x (having to do with Conf.pm changes) and haven't seen a response...

Could you possibly either give guidance on that (that is, do I add the new variables required in confdefs?) -- or let me know if I grudgingly switch to sendmail, whether:
- there are mods or configuration options that will both update the aliases AND virtusertable, or
- should I add a line to my create-a-robot script that puts a regexp based rewrite in the virtusertable, and then do I need any mods to the list_aliases template?
