4. /home/sympa/bin/etc/list_task_models/.

I tried putting it in /home/sympa/etc/<virtual host name>/list_task_models/ but this doesn't appear to work. 

Strange ; it works fine for us.
I did some tests with the following task file : /home/sympa/etc/vhost1/list_task_models/remind.test.task
Maybe yours is not used because of access restrictions on the directory...

I can't see the new model in the administrator's interface under the remind_task. It does work if I put it in /home/sympa/etc/list_task_models but then every list sees the model file. By chance I tested an alternative and found that it also worked as I wanted it if I put the model file in /home/sympa/etc/<virtual host name>/<list path>/list_task_models/ but this isn't listed in the documentation. 

You mean  /home/sympa/expl/<virtual host name>/<list path>/list_task_models/ ?

Is this something that is changed in the software versions or is this just something that needs to be updated in the documentation?
  

It seems that the documentation should be updated to replace /home/sympe/expl/<list path>/ with /home/sympa/expl/<list path>/list_task_models/.
