Hi Catherine,

It seems that we did not fully understand your request.

Could you please further explain your use case and what is the SQL statement your refer to ?

I'm using the SOAP interface, it doesn't seem to cope with families though, or an I missing something?

I'm currently using sympa 5.3.3 and the SOAP client.

I am wondering if it's possible to pass parameters to the sql statement.

For example I want to create multiple lists for specific groups, so there may
be a number of group ids. Therefore I would like to construct a list along the
lines of:

select email_name from my_table where group_id = <an id>;

Does anyone know of a way to achieve this?

It look like your need listr families ( http://www.sympa.org/manual/list-families ). The basic concept of list family is to configure and manage a set of lists prepared from a single template of list where some vars change foreach list.
