Hi Jason,

My list is no where near as large.  But it is an interactive discussion group.  My problem is when someone sends a message to the list, it really needs to be distributed as quick as possible.  If four or five messages hit at the same time … the load goes sky high.  Yesterday I logged in the box and saw a load average of 187.  Frankly, I am amazed I was able to even log in!

If your list is a newsletter type list, then you may not have the same requirements.  Does it really matter if a newsletter takes an extra two hours for delivery?  Probably not.  But you will have issues with bounces.pl.

I would definitely make a few test runs before you put Sympa in production.  My experience with Sympa 5.3.4 has not been stellar.  But, it could very well be I need to optimize my configuration and your results may not be the same.

Please post how it works for you.

Take care,

Paul

This concerns me, we are about to go into production with Sympa and our mailing lists can range up to 100,000 to 250,000. How large are your mailing lists?

Thanks,

Jason

I have a fairly large mailing list, and version 5.3.4 of sympa is causing the CPU load to skyrocket.  “Top” shows bounced.pl using the largest percentage of CPU time.

Any suggestions on how to make bounced.pl more efficient?

Thanks!

Paul
