I wonder if one of the SOAP functions might do it. complexLists looks like it might provide information about lists, but the documentation is a bit minimal as to what might be returned

then again, if you're looking for command line stuff, I expect a cleverly constructed "find" command applied to the list directories - assuming that you're maintaining archives

parsing log files might also offer an approach, depending on how far back your logs go

It's not obvious, but...

- click the sympa admin tab
- look for the "inactive lists" button

Does exactly what you're looking for.
