Hi all,
one of my listowners would like to customize the welcome-message, but
wants to have a subject of more than 40 characters. Well, should not be
a real problem... however, the text-entry-area wraps at 80 characters.
Some are lost to the "Subject: "-String, some are lost to
TT2-statements, so in fact my listowner currently hits a 20 character
limit. :-(
Currently the subject is:
Subject: [% FILTER qencode %][%|loc(list.name)%]Welcome to list
%1[%END%][%END%]
Should be no problem to change that to
Subject: [% FILTER qencode %]Welcome to list %1[%END%]
Now the linewrap happens at 43 characters, which certainly is an
improvement.
If no special characters are used, even
Subject: Welcome to list %1
would be possible, but I won't be able to educate my users about which
characters are special and which are not....
If I tried to increase the linewrap-limit, would I hit any problems I'm
currently unaware of?
By the way, did I mention the encoding issues I currently see when
german characters like äöüß result from localization and are not part of
the template themselves? For example the german translation of
"[%|loc%]Everything about this list:[%END%]" is broken. Can any other
german sympa-user confirm that problem? Not sure wheter my locales could
be a problem here....

Patrick.
