We have an oddity.

If I restart sympa using the system init script everything is ok and we get these processes running:-

ps -aef | grep sym
sympa 15973 1 0 15:09:25 pts/4 0:00 /bin/perl /usr/local/sympa/bin/sympa.pl
sympa 15977 1 0 15:09:31 pts/4 0:00 /bin/perl /usr/local/sympa/bin/bounced.pl
sympa 15975 1 0 15:09:28 pts/4 0:00 /bin/perl /usr/local/sympa/bin/archived.pl
sympa 15979 1 0 15:09:35 pts/4 0:00 /bin/perl /usr/local/sympa/bin/task_manager.pl

But after a reboot of the machine we get:-

sympa 507 1 0 17:27:49 ? 0:00 /bin/perl /usr/local/sympa/bin/archived.pl
sympa 512 1 0 17:27:53 ? 0:00 /bin/perl /usr/local/sympa/bin/bounced.pl
sympa 502 1 0 17:27:45 ? 0:01 /bin/perl /usr/local/sympa/bin/sympa.pl
sympa 489 488 0 17:27:30 ? 0:04 /bin/perl -U /dev/fd/3
sympa 491 488 0 17:27:31 ? 0:04 /bin/perl -U /dev/fd/3

Does anyone know what those two extra processes are at the end?
