Is wwsympa.fcgi eating all this memory ?
How long did it take between the first and last free command ?
Are you using wwsympa with FastCGI ?
How many lists do you run ? What kind of mailing lists (LDAP,...) ?
If sympa log_level (in sympa.conf) is set, try commenting it...
