I posted a week or two ago about a recently ported installation of sympa that has a VERY slow wwsympa. I have some additional information, and I would be very grateful for any feedback from the experts...

Context: 800 lists ... running fine on previous installation (RH9/MySQL/Postfix2/Apache1.3.29; slow hardware) ... new machine is plenty capable (dual P4; fast SATA RAID; 1GB RAM) and the software is largely the same LAMP config (debian/MySQL/Postfix2/Apache1.3.29) ...

The main symptom is that Perl5.8.5 rises to the top of the "top" list - gulping almost all of the CPU - and stays there for several seconds ... all the while the page is lo...a...d...i...n...g. The sympa.log shows some minor errors in the expl/config files, but I used to get these on my old installation too. WWSympa seems to load fully on every page access ... and that doesn't seem right.

FastCGI is loaded, and the necessary perl modules look to be there too.

I'm tempted to downgrade my version of perl, but I'm not sure if I want to fight that hydra right now.

Any thoughts appreciated

-Dean
