Thanks for the information. I guess how dangerous it is depends on the
subscription policy of the particular list. With open subscriptions you run
the
risk that both <listname>-subscribe and <listname> get spammed with the same
From: address, but with double opt-in and spammers nearly always faking
addresses the spammer will never get the email asking for confirmation.

I might have a go myself, or maybe my users will just have to put up with some
change when I finally migrate :)

Thanks, that is useful. I notice the comments at the head of the script say:
# Sympa was modified in late 1999, and now Sympa can now imitate being
# a Smartlist list. So the script would be no longer needed except..
am I missing something, or did Sympa get 'unmodified' since 1999?
The other problem with using this script is that the original use of
list-request will still be made by messages generated by Sympa.
