The mailing list for listmasters using Sympa

Debian woody + mysql, works correctly
installed sympa with
apt-get install sympa wwsympa
but it ended with the error message
I was not able to configure your databasebecause I could not connect to 
the database server.
I can connect to the mysql server from shell (localhost), and I'm sure, 
the root password is correct. I tried reconfigure with
dpkg-reconfigure -plow sympa
without success.

Please, I'm newbie with sympa, help me: what made I wrong?
