Hello,

Today I find that sympa.pl in my server eats up to 400MB memory,
because my server only has 256M memory, the swap is used up to 200MB.
The system is very slow then. I have only 3 active mailing lists. So
it is not a big server only problem.

Currently, I run sympa 3.4.4.3 in my server, with an i18n patch for
bug #0000198. (BTW, the patch doesn't fix the problem)

Compared to sympa version 3.3.5, sympa 3.4.4.3 leaks memory rather
rapid and hugely. I run 3.3.5 in my server from 2002.08.24 to
2003.08.15 without any memory problem, the longest uptime is about 150
days, the downtime caused by power outrage.

But the 3.4.4.3 run has a very short life span, see

Aug 18 02:33:12 master sympa[12815]: Sympa 3.4.4.3 started
Aug 30 23:07:46 master sympa[24702]: Sympa 3.4.4.3 started

I restart sympa to bring system back to normal.

My suggestion is that under the current situation, without any capable
debugging tool, we can try to compare source code of 3.3.5 and
3.4.4.3 to pinpoint the problem.

Regards
