But, there *should* be a way to write a script (bourne, perl)
that goes through and either counts the number of messages
OR the size of the messages in the digest directory, then when
it reaches a certain number/size defined in the script, alter
the configuration in the backend and adjust the digest time,
correct?  Nothing wrong with doing it that way, right?

That's how I plan on getting around it, when I get the chance.
