Hello,
I am using Sympa 2.6.1 for administering a German-speaking
mailing list on a Debian woody box.
We have Problems with German Umlauts, those get
mutated to 3-character codes like =E4 for a-umlaut.
I found out that messages sent to the list get their encoding changed, here
is an example:
I am using mutt-1.2.5i on a Debian woody box,
when sending messages to other people,
I have following text in my header:
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1
Content-Disposition: inline
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5i
When I send a message to the mailinglist, the received
letter has folowing text in the header:
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Disposition: inline
User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5i
It seems that sympa changes the charset from iso-8859-1 to
us-ascii and maybe the encoding to 7bit instead of 8bit,
which leads to garbled umlauts.
Any ideas how to correct this?
