Hi folks,

I have an idea to move to new site.  I want to discuss on it in
tommorow meeting.

I propose moving contents to "new site" using GitHub Pages (site
generator provided by GitHub).

0. Present state
----------------

Currently up-to-date documentation are provided on
<https://sympa-community.github.io> ("new site").  However announced
master site is still <https://www.sympa.org> ("old site") where
release announcements are provided.

I summed up that new site lacks following contents:

  - an entry point for the community
  - events / news

1. Moving announcements
-----------------------

I propose moving announcements (event/news) to /news/ under "new site".

If we create a new repo _news_ <https://github.com/sympa-community/news>,
it may be accessed as https://sympa-community.github.io/news/.

Note that we may not create a /news/ directory directly under repo
_sympa-community.github.io_.  Consistent documentation and fluid
contents would be better to be separated.

(David, are you pleased by new repo on GitHub?)


2. Renaming sites
-----------------

Then, I propose moving "old site" to such as <https://old.sympa.org>,
and moving "new site" to <https://www.sympa.org> or similar.

Currently the "old site" is origin of mess, because it holds outdated
contents and we almost can not do anything.  It would be better to
retire.

The "new site" should be the main site of community.  It is possible
just only by setting a CNAME record: For details see
https://help.github.com/articles/using-a-custom-domain-with-github-pages/

Both of them require help by techies of RENATER, because the server of
"old site" and "sympa.org" domain are managed by them.
