Dear all,
With most of the Ansible development environment set, I am now ready to start working on Sympa 7.0.
For this purpose, I created a branch in the Sympa github project, cleverly named sympa-7.0 (https://github.com/sympa-community/sympa/tree/sympa-7.0).
What I plan to do is start working with the new Sympatic module (https://github.com/sympa-community/p5-sympatic) that eiro created to provide general guidelines for Sympa development. I plan to work module by module, trying to maintain:
1- a synchronization with what Ikedas does in the 6.2 branch, at least for any functional enhancement (code chould derive at some point)
2- a functional Sympa server in my development environment.
I think this is the right way to start actually evolving the code.
Soji wisely noticed that we should start thinking about a release manager for the 7.0 branch. This is an open question for now. Any volunteers?
Just before I start, I want to emphasize that:
- anyone can work on the sympa-7.0 branch, provided he/she tries to keep with the two constraints above,
- any suggestions about my commits are welcome,
- any remarks regarding the coding style described in Sympatic are also welcome and the sooner the better.
Regards,
David
