Could you please answer some questions of mine.

1. The page [1] says that you implemented something like that already
for a Wiki. Is this feature used a lot?

2. Could you please describe, how the scenario would work for the stand
alone server solution. The user either logs in over the Sympa web
interface and then opens his XMPP client. Then s/he is automatically
authenticated? Is not everyone using the store password feature in those
clients and signs in automatically? Or the user first logs in with his
client and then s/he is automatically authenticated for the Web
services?

3. In my opinion, one should just add a new item in the user information
listing the user name for XMPP, create a help page how to install a
client and let the administrator who wants to provide a possibility to
chat set up the rest. Most of the time this is not even necessary since
a whole bunch of people use a mail provider already providing a XMPP
service like Google Mail, Web.de/Freemail, GMX.de and so on.
